It’s been four years since Big E last wrestled after a broken neck, and at least for now, he’s perfectly fine with that. While many other wrestlers with similar injuries have worked their way back, Big E is perfectly content with his retirement and during the interview; “HangEmHigh” he explained why, though he admitted he had “the time of my life” while wrestling.
“Honestly, because I’ve been really working on myself in 2020, getting into meditation and mindfulness, it wasn’t really a hard decision for me because I just got to a point where I think I was just able to accept that this was the right decision,” Big E said. “And yeah, man, I think meditation has really allowed me to…meditation has really allowed a lot, a lot of what guided meditation teaches you is to let go of things that don’t serve you anymore.”
of course suffering from a broken neck It also played a big factor for Big E, especially since it was the latest in a long line of injuries between football and wrestling that included torn ACLs, a torn meniscus, herniated discs and a fractured patella. All of that, combined with potential return risks, other life goals, and the possibility of staying with WWE in a non-wrestling role, eventually allowed Big E to come to terms with retirement.
“I never envisioned myself in this broadcasting role when I first started wrestling, but I’ve enjoyed it and I’m thankful for the opportunity. So the bottom line is that there are other ways to engage with the product. So for me, when I really thought about it and when I tried to predict what life was like for the next five, ten years. bed and build a new chapter to start working on the next phase of my life.”
