Ultimate Fighting Championship the title holder is campaigning for a rematch Cyril Gane
after losing to the Frenchman in their interim heavyweight title bout at
UFC Freedom 250.
Pereira says a second fight with Gane after their UFC Freedom 250 finish makes sense
Pereira called out Gane on Instagram. He touched on the controversial nature of the finish when they met at the White House in June and seems confident the meeting will happen.
“After a long rest and what I had to do, after a lot of work, after my last fight, a lot of people are talking about who Alex will fight,” Pereira said in an Instagram video. “I see a lot of opinions, but I think the fight that makes sense is Ciryl Gane. It’s a fight. I’m working on it and what I see is something that happens. How the last fight ended: There were illegal shots.”
Gane was expected to take the initiative Tom Aspinall in the next title unification fight, but the Englishman’s return to the Octagon appears to have been further delayed. His adviser, Eddie Hearn, recently claimed that Aspinall is not yet cleared by the commissions after undergoing multiple eye operations as a result of injuries sustained in his first fight with Gane last year.
