Last Friday was a very strange day for Tony Romo.
It started with CBS and Romo announcing that he had parted ways with the network where he had served as the NFL’s top play-by-play analyst. It ended with Romo being disqualified from a golf tournament for submitting an incorrect score card.
Via Chris Cwik of Yahoo Sports, the disqualification it happened in the final round of a Korn Ferry pre-qualifying match while Romo was trying to make the cut for the Korn Ferry tour.
Romo bogeyed himself for a four on the 16th hole and a four on the 17th hole. As it turned out, Romo had a five and a five.
Romo took responsibility for the error, which may have stemmed from the fact that Romo’s triple was set on the clock due to slow play.
Even with the incorrect result, it wouldn’t be enough to get Romo into the Korn Ferry tour.
Romo’s broadcasting future is murky, to say the least. Until he makes his next move, he will likely work on further improving his golf game.
