On Saturday, US Presidents Cup captain Brandt Snedeker said the Internationals “made more putts” as the Americans faced a huge deficit enter the last two sessions.
On Sunday, the putti fell.
Team USA overcame a three-point deficit heading into Sunday to win the Presidents Cupespecially thanks to putting. The statistics show that seven of the top nine putters for the event were on Team USA. On Sunday, the Americans made a ton of big putts when it mattered.
There was Cameron Young’s 32-foot birdie putt on the 16th hole to close out Ryo Hisatsune and give the Americans their first point of the day. Patrick Cantlay hit a 57-footer from the green to put his match with international Adam Scott out of reach. Collin Morikawa matched Hideki Matsuyama’s 45-footer with one of his own early in his match, then drilled a 31-footer over him on the 15th hole to regain momentum in a match Morikawa would eventually win on the 18th.
Ultimately, Jacob Bridgeman, the best putter on the PGA Tour this season, holed a 4-footer on the 18th green to seal the US’s 11th consecutive Presidents Cup win.
Interestingly, all 12 members of the winning US team used a mallet-style putter, with five of them coming from TaylorMade’s Spider Tour family, who was again the PGA Tour’s winningest putter in 2026.
Two of those players, Chris Gotterup, who led the 24 players this week in Strokes Gained: Putting, and Cantlay, are playing Spider as free agents. Gotterup and Cantlay were the only unmanned agents on the U.S. team this season.
Another four players used one of Scotty Cameron’s Phantom family. In particular, both Young and Justin Thomas put new putters into play this weekwith Young moving from the 10.5 Xperimental Prototype that he went to the Tour Championship to the Phantom 5.5 mallet. Thomas, meanwhile, moved to that 10.5 Xperimental later playing Young’s previous 9.5R gamer for most of the season.
U Phantom 9.5R was not absent from the parties, however, as Rookie Jackson Koivun used one to log a 2-0-1 record in his debut.
