Somerset duo Craig Overton and Sophie Luff have taken top honors at the 2026 PCA Awards in partnership with Toyota, while England’s rising stars Sonny Baker and Tilly Corteen-Coleman also picked up coveted honors at the White City Showcase.
Overton saw him collect a quadruple of PCA awards, winning the PCA Men’s Player of the Year trophy, PCA Men’s Overall MVP, Rothesay County Championship Player of the Year and selection in the IG PCA Men’s Team of the Year.
The 32-year-old, who has scored 951 runs, taken 76 wickets and taken 45 catches across all three formats this season, becomes the first Somerset player to secure the award since Nick Compton in 2012, beating off competition from a shortlist of players including Joe Clarke, George Hill and Dan Lawrence.
He also scored an unbeaten 79 in the quarter-finals of the Vitality Blast to take Somerset through to Finals Day.
“It’s a phenomenal feeling. To be selected by your peers to win this award is very special; it means a lot to me,” Overton said.
“Being able to put in consistent performances has made it a great year. My bowling took off and after I scored that hundred in Essex in the second match of the season, my form with the bat continued throughout the summer. In the quarter-final against Yorkshire I felt this was the year where everything was going my way and everything clicked.
“I felt like I got into a groove where my body was in a good place, not 100 percent because of the schedule, but mentally I felt like I was in a great place to be able to go out and perform when the games come pretty close every other day.”
Somerset completed the double as their captain Luff also won the player-voted award and becomes the first winner of the Toyota PCA Women’s Player of the Year since Eve Jones won it in 2021 who had not played international cricket.
Impressing for her county throughout the season and in The Hundred, which she won with the Trent Rockets, Luff was also selected in the Metro Bank PCA Women’s Team of the Year.
“It’s super special that people have voted for me after the performances and the impact they feel I’ve had this year. It means I’m doing things the right way and people think highly of you,” said the 32-year-old, who scored more than 1,000 runs this summer.
“I’ve always been a leader who wants to lead from the front, but I think people are seeing this game now. I think this year I’ve just shown what I’m capable of.”
The Toyota PCA Men’s Young Player of the Year award went to Hampshire and England’s Sonny Baker, who was rewarded with a Test match debut, playing against New Zealand at the Kia Oval.
The 21-year-old took 10 international wickets, showing his ability with six in IT20s and remarkably becomes the first Hampshire player to win the award since it was introduced in 1990.
Left-arm spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman enjoyed a year that saw her make her IT20 and ODI debut for England while impressing for Surrey and Southern Brave in The Hundred as she claimed the Toyota PCA Young Women’s Player of the Year award.
Former England captain Heather Knight was named the winner of the PCA Outstanding Contribution Award for her outstanding dedication to the game over an extended period.
The ECB announced the winner of the Special Merit Award, which went to former England manager Tammy Beaumont following her illustrious international career.
