Nets Notes: Brown, 2025 Draft Picks, Rebounding, Demin

Patience determines Networks‘ plans as they are prepared Mikel Brown Jr for a full NBA load, writes By Javi Kussoy of The New York Post. After being slowed by an ankle injury in the preseason, the rookie defenseman was limited in minutes and played 20 minutes off the bench in the team’s first game. coach Jordi Fernandez indicates that the pattern is expected to continue for some time.

“That is until we change that, and now we know the sample size will be much larger.” Fernandez said after Friday’s practice. “It’s not just, ‘Oh, one game, he’s ready.’ … I mean, if you think about it, he played (21 games last season). This season is 82, right? Will he play all 82? No. We feel he can make strides. Obviously at some point he’ll be able to play more games and be able to play in the back, but it’s not now and it’s not anytime soon.”

Brown saw another 20 minutes in Saturday’s game against Cleveland, meaning he likely won’t play Sunday against Indiana, Coussoy added. He had to compete with the Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchellone of the Louisville alumni who was Brown’s mentor for several years. Mitchell believes he has a bright future in the NBA Brian Lewis of The New York Post.

“Not a lot of high school kids pay attention to detail. I talk to (Brown) like a James Harden“, Mitchell said. “He’s going to do amazing things in Brooklyn. Nets fans should be very happy because they have one.”

The networks also have:

  • Drake Powell, Ben Saraf and Danny Wolfall first-round picks in 2025, benched for entire first-round loss to Charlotte CJ Holmes of The New York Daily News watches in history only for subscribers. Fernandez wants to build continuity from his current rotation, so any chances for second-year players may have to wait.
  • The Nets hope to run more this season, but they need to rebound better for that strategy to work, Holmes says in a separate story. They provided 15 offensive rebounds to the Hornets, who had a 20-8 advantage in second points. “We have to impose our physicality on these things and hit people first,” Julius Randle said. “So I’ll set the tone.”
  • After losing at the opening, Yehor Demin talked about finding ways to help the team when his shot isn’t falling, Holmes said another piece. The second-year guard was just 2 of 10 from the field with four points. “The opportunities are there, everything is given to me, and I just have to be able to perform at the level that I want to be at.” he said.
