When it comes to a show like WWE WrestleMania, plans have to be made well in advance, and in the case of WrestleMania 43, which takes place next April in Saudi Arabia, the plans are already in place. Fightful Select’s latest report suggested that some matches have already been written, but a new report by Dave Meltzer Wrestling Observer Newsletter: suggests that nothing is concrete at the time of writing.
The idea of Roman Reigns defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Oba Femi on the second night of the event is still very much in the works, according to Meltzer, which was part of the original Fightful Select report. However, the part that is not currently planned is that Cody Rhodes will be taking on CM Punk in the main event of the first night, which Fightful did not directly announce, as it was only mentioned that Rhodes and Punk were just supposed to be in the main roles. Meltzer noted that the bout is not the current direction, though he said it would make sense since the two men are now the biggest stars on “WWE SmackDown” and were intentionally removed from WWE SummerSlam 2026 after their initial interaction.
Meltzer concluded by saying that with the show still less than six months away, these plans are naturally subject to change due to various circumstances, such as injuries. One thing that is still subject to change is the date of the event itself, as nothing has been officially announced by WWE. The weekend of April 10th and 11th is supposedly penciled in, though WWE keeping the date under wraps for nownot only because the logistics of even taking place in Saudi Arabia are more difficult than if it took place in North America, but because it also prevents companies like AEW from showing directly in front of WrestleMania 43.
