Mother Nature prevails… again.
For the second time in two days, the Boston Red Sox are adjusting their schedule, pushing back the start of the second game of Friday’s doubleheader with the Chicago Cubs by a half hour due to concerns about an approaching storm that is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the Boston area.
First pitch for Game 2 is moving from 6:05 PM to 5:35 PM ET. The team says the change was made in consultation with Major League Baseball. Game 1 was originally scheduled for Sunday’s series finale, but it was moved to beat the impending weather system. It’s still set for a 1:05 p.m. kick-off.
For now, the final game of the series is set for Saturday at 7:15 PM ET. But the launch time and location remain fluid, with the potential for the game to even be moved to another location.
Both teams have beds compacted after the seasonbut this final series will still determine the headquarters of both teams.
