Alex Pereira is not a fan Cyril Gane.
The Brazilian will tell anyone willing to listen how Gane beat him only because of illegal shots to the back of the head (see the end here). He has campaigned for a rematch and the firing of referee Herb Dean. Despite Gane winning the first round, Pereira claims Gane won “dead tired” and forced to rely on illegal shots to steal the win.
In an Instagram post, Pereira reacted to the split change and laughed in the process. Check out his post below:
The chart above breaks down and critiques Gane’s heavyweight resume. It reads: “Lost to Francis (Ngannou), lost to (Jon) Jones, (Alexander) Volkov was a daylight robbery, 10 illegal headshots to Potan (sic).” There is also the title “Same Circus, Different Belt”.
In other words, the push for a rematch begins in earnest.
At the moment, signs point to a Gane vs. Pereira rematch as the next heavyweight title fight. However, there are other options. Above all Josh Hockey has raised hell of the idea to skip for a guy who has yet to win a UFC heavyweight fight. Meanwhile Alexander Volkov really should have given the nod over Gane in their rematch. Despite promises that the UFC would make it up to himVolkov still hasn’t fought for the title.
Unfortunately for Hokit and “Drago”, money talks and “Poatan” remains one of the sport’s biggest stars.
