It was revealed in Tuesday’s edition of WWE NXT. A few weeks after the reinstatement of the men’s tag team division, that general manager is Robert Stone bringing back the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic to the WWE Performance Center. It the last tournament took place in 2024however, the classic was first launched in 2015.
The full bracket for the 14-team tournament will be released on social media this week and will feature NXT, WWE EVOLVE and AAA teams, as well as the main roster. Stone, however, took to Busted Open Radio to reveal a little more about the 2026 Dust Bowl.
“After last night, we already know the Creed Brothers are in it,” he said. “We’re kind of breaking news now. I will introduce to you two more teams that will participate in this tournament. From AAA, Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno and “NXT” from the Vanity Project. Again, I know I probably expected both of those teams to be in the tournament, though, since they’re both going to be AA champions to their credit. in the first round.”
Stone said there’s always a fun, random team that comes out in the tournament, like the 2024 winner, The Wolfhounds, Baron Corbin and Braun Breaker. The Creed Brothers are also no strangers to the classic, winning in 2022.
While the winners of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic usually get a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championship, it’s unclear if that will be the case this year, as Vanity Project’s Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes currently hold the gold.
