Real Madrid He continued his impressive run of form with a 3-0 win over Valencia at the Mestalla, extending his winning streak under Jose Mourinho.
Federico Valverde opened the scoring in the 28th minute before Arda Güler doubled the visitors’ lead eight minutes later and Kylian Mbappé put the game to bed in the second half.
Diomande was particularly encouraged down the left, breaking into the box and forcing Stole Dimitrievski to collect his attempted cross.
However, Valencia almost took the lead in the 18th minute when Aurelien Tchouameni lost possession near his own penalty area.
Aaron Mayol seized the opportunity and shot at goal, but Thibaut Courtois made an excellent save to keep the scoreline intact.
The home side then thought they had broken through when Guido Rodríguez found the net, only for the midfielder to be ruled offside.
Madrid responded by upping the tempo and finally asserted their dominance in the 28th minute.
After a free-kick, Valverde took possession outside the penalty area and fired a right-footed strike into the bottom corner to put the visitors ahead.
Guler doubled Madrid’s lead in the 36th minute, leaving Javier Aguirre’s side facing a difficult task against increasingly confident opponents.
Madrid remained in control after the break, with Mbappé continuing to stretch Valencia’s defence.
The French striker ran into space on a counter-attack and tried to lift the ball over Dimitrievski, but the goalkeeper recovered to make an important save.
Valencia
Real Madrid
Valencia struggled to create chances against Madrid’s organized backline, with Konate producing an on-point challenge to keep Umar Sadiq from advancing in the penalty area.
Dimitrievski was again called upon to deny Mbappe, who, on another night, could have had much more.
