Canelo Alvarez makes his own long awaited return to the boxing ring this Saturday (October 31, 2026) for the first time since losing Terence Crawford over a year ago against the WBC Interim Super Middleweight Champion, Christian MbilliInside the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia DAZN PPV.
Despite the loss to Bud – which cost him the WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO and A ring super middleweight titles — Alvarez remains one of the few boxers in the sport who demands a huge payday every time he steps into the ring.
And this weekend is no different.
Accordingly Boxing sceneCanelo is expected to pay a whopping $47 million flat base fee for the title fight. Of course, this does not include his cut of pay-per-view (PPV) and sponsorship deals. As for Mbilli, the champion could expect a solid base check of around $9 million. While Canelo has a huge pay check waiting for him, it is half of the amount he got it last year for his mega fight against the aforementioned Terence Crawford.
In addition to the challenge of facing and potentially defeating a sports legend, the huge payday is why Canelo — whose net worth is estimated at $300 million — has long been one of the most-called fighters in the game area Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. This is something that Alvarez infamously says “You want a payday” when he is summoned.
