Bully Rey apparently took AEW to task for how it handled Royce Keys, formerly known as Powerhouse Hobbs, compared to WWE.
Keys, who made his WWE debut at the beginning of the year after six years in AEW, starred in the popular WWE TV storyline, leading the 946 against The Bloodline. Ray said:Destroyed gap“that he’s not shocked by how effective Keys has been in WWE, criticizing other promotions for not knowing how to get the best out of their wrestlers.
“I’m not that shocked (that Keys was used in WWE),” Rey said. “Some places just don’t know how to use talent to their fullest potential.”
Rey believes that Key’s screen time and how he’s been used on WWE TV, which he implied wasn’t the case in AEW, comes down to time. He believes timing is an important factor in any wrestler’s success in professional wrestling.
“A term you hear all the time in the world of professional sports entertainment. timing is everything,” Ray added. “Now this is about real life, but oh my god, timing really is everything when it comes to our world. It really happens. The timing was right for Royce Keys.”
WWE has promoted several former AEW stars, including Cody Rhodes, CM Punk and Penta and Keys. The leader of 946 – could be next. Keys is aiming high in WWE, outlining his goal before becoming champions at the end of the year. However, WWE appears to have bigger plans for him, with reports indicating that the TKO-owned promotion sees him as a potential future world champion.
For now, Keys and his 946 crew are set to battle The Bloodline, with the match possibly taking place at Survivor Series in late November.
