Golf Gear To Consider For A Cold, Stormy Day

With winter approaching at Mach speed, it’s time to consider updating your wardrobe to combat the cold weather.

I come from Utah and the minute of the calendar hts October, you need golf equipment to protect yourself from the elements. I tried golfing over the weekend and the rain and humidity dropped the “feel like” temperature into the 40’s. My hands were numb, I got wet and felt a chill coming on.

If you are in the middle of a similar dilemma, consider the equipment below in your search to fight the elements.

HotHands

Yes, HotHands still worth the money in the big 2026 – that’s a mountain I’ll die on.

I grew up with HotHands before every Turkey Bowl, on hunting trips and while snowboarding in the Rockies. If they work for all those scenarios, you can bet your bottom dollar they work on the golf course.

Throw one in each pocket and have warm hands between shots.

Golf rain jacket

The first step is to get a rain jacket. A golf specific rain jacket is preferred because it is built with the golf swing in mind, but just having a rain jacket is key.

Most high-performance options come with a higher price tag, but are still worth recommending for those looking for the best overall performance. For example, the Abacus Bounce Waterproof Hoodie it’s over $300, but in our testing it offered “a more comfortable, casual look and feel that keeps restriction to a minimum through the swing.”

When rain and snow are added to the mix, you want something with premium waterproofing that won’t sacrifice the unrestricted feel you need on the golf course.

Dunning Precision Insulated Pants

I tested the Dunning Precision Insulated Pant last month and it is clear that they are built for the coldest climate.

I was impressed by how warm they kept me when I was out in the cold, but also how manageable the temperature was when moving indoors or when the temperature rose. If you’re always playing in different conditions, the Precision Insulated Pant is worth adding to your arsenal.

On top of the insulation, they feature a comfortable fit and roomy pockets – both of which are a must for me.

Beanie

When it gets cold, I start to care less about how I look and more about how warm I am.

Many golf beanies trade style for comfort, but they’re all that if the wind chill drops the temperature to near freezing. U Breezy Golf Have A Day Knit Beanie it features more of an “on the mountain” type feel, while other beanies offer a more simple, professional look.

Regardless of the style you choose, a golf beanie is a must on a cold day.

Honorable mention: An unbroken spirit

You can’t buy this, but you need it for a stormy day.

You will start to feel cold and you may want to quit. Don’t let it go. You are not a quitter and your low turn of the year could be realized on the day you encounter a snowdrift on the final hole.

While you can’t buy an unbroken spirit, the above items will certainly help you stay composed. As we head into the colder months, I wish you luck on the course, staying warm and scoring low.
