The Cowboys’ brand is soul-crushing embarrassment

The Cowboys were terrible on Thursday night, and managed to make history in the worst possible way. By losing to the Buccaneers, Dallas became just the second team to go 0-4 at home since 1975.. That’s what we’ve come to expect from Cowboys diversity over the past three decades — because it’s become a distinctively mediocre label.

It would be easier for fans to swallow if there was a singular link of guilt, something they could simply point to and say, “This It’s the reason Dallas loses.” Unfortunately, there’s no one answer to the problem, no silver bullet, nothing to focus on, fix, and improve. Jerry and Stephen Jones might point out that the problem really is — and they wouldn’t be wrong. they are. Problems, but there are so many issues. Dallas has cooled coaches over the years, made spectacular trades, invested heavily in their stars, and still lost their first NFL start to a winless football team with a backup QB under center.

As mentioned in Jerry and Stephen Jones They are big problems. They have had problems for a long time. His platonic ideals, the master of entanglement, convinced Jerry for the better part of four decades that he was the smartest guy in the room. Jones boldly said his team would be better off minus the chance to trade Micah Parsons — they didn’t. He was the driving force behind trading a first-round pick for DT Quinn Williams, citing the need to defend Dallas’ run. Williams has been a real disappointment since his arrival, as a middle-of-the-pack starter, he’s not someone you trade for in the future. This was a team that had three-straight 12-win seasons under Mike McCarthy, whom Jerry fired because he couldn’t get the Cowboys over the mound — a mediocre coach in his own right who handed the keys to Brian Schottenheimer. Stephenson was always there to make up for his father’s evil tendencies, which was mirrored by his trade for Joey Porter Jr. Don’t get me wrong, he’s an amazing football player, but it’s a short-sighted deal you make when you make sure the team is only one player away, not where Dallas is right now.

Brian Schottenheimer It’s a problem. The Cowboys coach now has a 9-12-1 record, has dragged the team since his arrival and tinkered with Dak Prescott’s play in a way that has significantly hurt him. Schottenheimer acknowledged that it’s changing a lot when it comes to the QB position, when you have a 10-year veteran under center and you’re looking at a third-year QB who has to rebuild. Besides, Schottenheimer didn’t really have an answer as to why. The Cowboys’ clock management was abysmal at the end of the Crows’ loss in Brazil.. It’s become clear that his hiring was a huge mistake and that Dallas would be a better team right now than losing Mike McCarthy, or the up-and-coming Kellen Moore, or—hell—keeping Jason Garrett at this size.

It’s not entirely his fault, though Dak Prescott. It has become a problem. The one thing that destroys NFL offenses isn’t necessarily bad QB play, but inconsistency. Unfortunately for Prescott, he’s been an incredibly inconsistent quarterback, and by incredibly low standards. One game he looks like an All-Pro worthy of being named a top-3 QB, and the next he plays like he did Thursday night, struggling against a defense that ranks 21st in pass defense, entering Week 5 as the Ducks become the Fair Weather QB. If CeeDee Lamb is opening regularly and the running game is clicking – then he separates teams. Hit with a little trouble and instead of solving the problem, Prescott tends to force the ball, try to try. Something to happen and as a result he put himself in a hole.

It should not be left out Dallas defense This is also the case. The belief was that hiring Christian Parker away from the Eagles would allow this team to replicate Philadelphia’s defensive success, but it turned out to be a mess. Despite the strong talent on the ball side, the defense ranks worst in the league in almost every statistical category. The Cowboys are 24th in passing, 30th against the run, 28th in points allowed — and 30th in total defense. When you have a porous defense, it plays into the worst traits of this Dallas offense, putting the team in a hole and asking Dak to throw the route — which leads to a lot of unnecessary turnovers.

Oh and Special groups Blocked field goals are allowed in back-to-back games, just for good measure.

The worst part of all of this is that there is no easy way out for Cowboys fans. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. If this is simply a coaching problem, a QB problem or defensive issues, it may take time to fix – but it all boils down to Jones at the top. Neither Jerry nor Stephen go away, and their incredible ability to make terrible decisions is indicative of most things when billionaires are involved. The Cowboys are once a mess, mediocrity is their hallmark, and there’s no escaping it.
