Glover Teixeira explains why Sergei Pavlovich offers a better stylistic match than Ciryl Gane
“Poatan” loses by second-round TKO to Gane in his heavyweight debut at
UFC Freedom 250 in June. Teixeira believes his protégé will fare better against Pavlovic, who lacks Gane’s footwork and evasion.
Speaking to Sherdog, Teixeira hailed the bout, which he believes will end before the fifth round. The former light heavyweight champion also outlined Pereira’s path to victory and reiterated his goal of becoming the first three-division UFC champion.
“It was a fight. Any heavyweight fight is dangerous and it’s definitely not going to the fifth round,” Teixeira said. “It fits ‘Poatan’ better with Ciryl Gane’s style. Gane moves more, while Pavlovic stays more seated. To win, ‘Poatan’ has to fight the right fight, keep his distance and be faster. “Poatan’s goal is still to win his third title and that’s what he’s focused on now.”
