Wizards a great man Tristan Vuktsevich The team announced today that he has been diagnosed with a sprained left hip (via Twitter).
According to the Wizards, Vukcevic will participate partially in training camp while he undergoes the rehab process. The injury is scheduled to be re-evaluated in four weeks, meaning he will miss at least the first week of the regular season.
Vukcevic, 23, played in 49 games for Washington last season, making 12 starts and averaging 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 13.7 minutes per night. The 7-footer has shown the ability to stretch the floor a bit, attempting 7.6 3-pointers per 36 minutes in 94 regular season NBA games and making 34.8% of them.
In February, Vukčević was moved from his two-way contract to a three-year standard contract. He is due a $3 million guaranteed salary this season, while the Wizards hold a $3 million team option on him through the 2027-28 season.
The Wizards have a good amount of frontcourt depth, with Anthony Davis, Alex Sarand Deandre Ayton all are expected to play a significant role. However, the team will likely manage Davis’ early workload carefully after he was limited to 20 games last season due to injuries, and Sarr until it goes into full contact after offseason foot surgery.
