WWE WrestleMania is known as “The Greatest Stage of Them All,” but the massive PLE was definitely bigger when The Undertaker put his undefeated streak on the line every year. Many fans were shocked WrestleMania 30, when “The Streak” ended at the hands of Brock Lesnar, and according to JBL “Something for wrestling” even the commentators were unaware of the ending. The veteran claimed that his teammate Michael Cole was going to announce that the “streak continues” at the end of the game before being surprised by the result.
“Michaels and I didn’t know the ending,” JBL said. He confirmed that commentators often filled in on who was winning and losing because it was easier to know who to build up and who to verbally tear down. However, JBL also claimed that often when two big stars are in a match, knowing the result is not necessary, and that night they captured the result.
“If we had asked, we probably would have been told, but we didn’t need to know,” he continued. “What a terrible moment! I remember going backstage saying: “Taker, I loved him, what a great thing he did. It felt like the end of something… I remember thinking. “God, that’s bad!”
JBL then clarified that he believed someone had to break the streak at some point, and there was no better option than Lesnar, but the commentator still felt sad.
