Fighting Select They would later follow up Thompson’s report on the subject with one of their own suggesting there was smoke on fire. Those connected to the Stamford, Connecticut headquarters heard that Russo had conversations with WWE President Nick Khan. How serious the talks were or what they entailed remains unclear, but they appear to have progressed enough that Russo either visited WWE headquarters or was “in talks” to do so.
These rumors, if they happened at all, seem to have been kept close to Khan’s vest, as most WWE internal staff have not only never heard of it, but have been described as “laughing” when asked. Those who work closely with Khan also said they were unaware he had spoken with Russo and only learned of the discussions when Thompson’s story broke.
