Playing Reese Beekman to fill Wizards‘ open two-way slot by getting it Agreement 10 converted to a two-way deal, the team announced today (via Twitter).
Beekman, 25, played in 36 regular-season games in 2024-25 with the Warriors and Nets after going undrafted out of Virginia and then spent last season with the Osceola Magic of the G League. He averaged 10.0 points, 6.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds in 48 games for Orlando’s G-League affiliate. and 2.1 steals in 30.3 minutes per game on .431/.274/.781 shooting.
Beekman hasn’t been particularly effective for Washington during the preseason, with just five points and five assists in 32 minutes while committing seven turnovers. However, the team decided to keep him along with the other two players, Felix Okpara and Jameer Watkins.
The trade is just one of several moves the Wizards made Saturday ahead of the regular season roster deadline. The team also announced (via Twitter), that he refused protection Trevor Keels and Alondes Williamsalong with forward Chris Livingston. Keals, Williams and Livingston have all signed Annex 10 contracts and are candidates for the Capital City Go-Go’s of the G League.
That’s also true for the former Gonzaga guard Nolan Hickmanwho was immediately cut after signing today’s Supplement 10 contract with the Wizards, tweets Keith Smith of Spotrac. Hickman played for the Go-Go’s last season, averaging 9.4 ppg, 3.0 ppg and 2.0 ppg in 41 games (26.8 ppg).
Today’s Wizards cuts do not include a veteran power forward Anthony Gillwhich is on unsecured Exhibition 9 contract. That could mean Gill makes the regular season roster as Washington’s 15th man.
