Ravens running back Derrick Henry, who turns 33 in early January, continues to do it at a high level. A solid performance Sunday in Buffalo will put him ahead of a pair of Hall of Famers on the all-time rushing list.
Henry enters the Week 8 game with 13,597 career rushing yards. With just 66 yards, he will pass Jerome Bettis for No. 8 on the career rushing list. With 88, Henry will pass LaDainian Tomlinson.
If, along the way, Henry scores a rushing touchdown, he will join Hall of Famers Marshall Faulk and Marcus Allen as the only players with 40 or more rushing touchdowns with multiple teams.
Faulk did it with the Colts and Rams. Allen did it with the Raiders and Chiefs. Henry has been there before with the Titans.
The big question for Henry is how high he can go on the career rushing list. The current record holder, Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith, believes Henry can catch and beat Smith’s all-time passing record of 18,355 yards.
Henry needs 4,758 yards to match Smith. To get there, Henry will probably have to finish 2026 strong and stick it out for another four years.
Until then, it is possible that Henry will play for a third team. It would be fitting if the Cowboys — who weren’t interested when Henry became a free agent — were the team with which Henry broke Smith’s record.
