The Springbok Women finished their European tour on Sunday with a 20-0 win Spain in Seville.

A WXV Global Series crossover match against Regis Sonnes Lionesseswho finished third at the 2026 WXV Global Series Challenger, he saw South Africa achieved their second victory on the tour.

In Seville, Catha Jacobs completed a sensational move to open the scoring after 14 minutes. Jakkie Cilliers converted the try before adding three more points from the tee in the 30th minute to put the visitors 10-0 up at half-time.

There was some concern for the Springbok Women when their captain, Babalwa Latsha, left the field with an ankle injury, while her replacement, Nomomsalwa Mdliki, was later stretchered off.

In the second half, Aseza Hele and Cilliers crossed for tries as South Africa held off Spain to end their European tour on a high.

“We wanted to disrupt their attack to make sure they couldn’t get going and the fact they couldn’t score tells you how successful that was,” South Africa co-coach Franzel September said.

“We were able to kill their offense at the source. Another highlight for us was our discipline – we didn’t concede a single card or make any big shots. One of our goals is to be the most disciplined side at the next World Cup, and we set a good standard for that today.”

Despite his glowing assessment of South Africa’s performance, September admitted there was still room for improvement, particularly in Ireland ready to visit Cape Town for back-to-back Test matches.

Like the Springbok Women, Ireland have played three Test matches in the past three weeks and experienced mixed fortunes. Scott Bemand’s side opened their WXV Global Series campaign with a 40-36 loss USA Women’s Eagles in Dublin, but have since won back-to-back wins over Japan, the latest of which came in a match outside the window in Cork.

South Africa started the WXV Global Series with a 50-19 loss to Wales in Cardiff before returning to winning ways against Wales and then securing victory in Seville.

“We left some tries there but to end the tour with such a commanding win was great for us,” he said.

“We can now look back on the results of the tour and, once we return to South Africa, begin to focus on the two matches against Ireland in Cape Town later this month.”
