The Warriors plan to refuse Dalen Terryleague sources tell Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints (Link to Twitter).
Terry was on non-guaranteed Exhibition 10 signed with Golden State for training camp. He finalized deal in late August and appeared in five preseason games (14.0 minutes per contest) with the Warriors this fall, averaging 6.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals on .480/.500/.667 shooting in a small sample.
Siegel hears the Warriors like Terry and figures the 24-year-old will open the season with their G League affiliate in Santa Cruz. Terry will be eligible to earn a bonus worth up to $91,000 if he spends at least 60 days with Santa Cruz.
Terry spent the last four seasons in the NBA after being selected 18th overall in the 2022 draft. The former Arizona standout struggled to carve out a consistent role in his three-and-a-half years with the Bulls, who traded him to New York in late February. He was immediately reassigned to New Orleans and subsequently waived by the Pelicans.
A 6’6″ guard/forward, Terry signed a two-way contract with Philadelphia in February, days after being waived by New Orleans. In April, Terry converted the two-way deal to a two-year standard contract to make him eligible for the 2026 playoffs.
Sixers originally took their minimum wage option in Terry’s squad for 2026/27. However, his salary was completely unguaranteed, so he was refused when the club needed to clear space under their hard cap to officially sign LeBron James.
Terry’s release reportedly bodes well Brandon Williamschances to make Warriors regular season roster. The former Mavericks guard’s salary will remain non-guaranteed until January, even if he is still on the regular roster next week.
