Natalia Silva extended her UFC win streak to nine en route to the vacant UFC women’s flyweight title last weekend. UFC 332 in Salt Lake City, Utah, but it still wasn’t impressive enough to bring fans to his hometown championship parade.
Many fight fans hated the UFC 332 card before it even came out, but the promotion’s return to Utah produced one of the sickest fights of the year. In fact, the event set an all-time UFC record with 11 knockouts. Unfortunately for Silva, he fell short of that historic feat after going five tough rounds with Wang Cong in a weak main event ( results HERE).
Even though Silva did what he had to do to win more rounds than Cong and walk away with the UFC title around his belt, fight fans still have trouble seeing him as the true champion of the division. That’s because former UFC flyweight queen and all-time legend Valentina Shevchenko, gave up his title due to injury. In fact, there are reports that UFC officials forced Shevchenko to relinquish the title because they needed a championship fight to win the title at UFC 332. For most, the “Bullet” is still the best in its class.
Unfortunately for Silva, fans still don’t seem to be paying attention to his success in the Octagon. The newly minted UFC women’s flyweight champion returned home this week and hoped to parade in front of her fans. Unfortunately, no one showed up to celebrate his victory, leaving Silva in the back of a truck on an empty road.
