Uhaa Nation, aka Apollo Crews, discussed his feelings after learning of WWE’s release
“Azg” said in an interview.Insight“that he got the call informing him of his release while he was at his son’s basketball practice. His initial reaction was to wait as he waited for the call to come.
“I was at my son’s basketball practice and I kind of had an idea that week because it was WrestleMania week and I wasn’t doing anything on TV and I got called up to do some appearances at WrestleMania, which was great because I think the previous two years I stayed home for two WrestleManias so when I wasn’t going out for anything. For Mania in Vegas, I think it was the Wednesday after Mania, I got a call and they said they don’t need me for SmackDown this week, so I’m going to stay home, and I immediately knew, OK, Friday, they’re going to call me and that’ll be it.
He stated that the call didn’t affect him too much mentally, and he overcame the emotional impact of his release by pushing himself physically and trying to discover who he was outside of WWE. But he had to deal with feelings of being left out, which he said were difficult to overcome because he had the responsibilities of being a father and a husband.
“I didn’t even really like to think too much (after the WWE phone call). It didn’t work out for me the way I expected,” he added. “And it was hard (dealing with the emotions) because I had a real life, you know, I wasn’t alone where I could sit in a room and be, you know, depressed or whatever, or let me deal with all these emotions on my own.”
The former “Apollo Crews” said he wasn’t overly emotional after being released, which made it easier to anticipate.
