Waldo Cortes-Acosta is not a fan of Josh Hokit and hopes he has a chance to knock his teeth out with a win this weekend. UFC Vegas 124.
Tomorrow is a great opportunity for Cortes-Acosta to end a disappointing two-fight losing streak and return to the heavyweight division. The Cuban contender has a good chance of doing just that when he takes on former light heavyweight Johnny Walker in the main event. Walker is dangerous, but he has been stopped by lesser foes than Cortes-Acosta before.
If Cortes-Acosta can stop Walker’s rise to heavyweight, he’ll put himself back in a good spot for 2027. It’s a promising prospect for Cortes-Acosta, who had three knockout wins before his recent loss. That’s because the heavyweight division will now move forward with a scheduled title fight between Hokit and current UFC champion Ciryl Gane next weekend at UFC 334, creating future opportunities for contenders like Cortes-Acosta.
“I’m excited about the division because they’re still moving everything, the title is moving now,” Cortes-Acosta said. MMA fight. “I see new blood coming to the title.
“Josh Hokit is a personality there, but it’s still moving in the heavyweight division, (everyone) knows. I can (over) expect good things for the heavyweight division, also in the new year.”
If Cortes-Acosta did so, he would have the opportunity to silence Hoki himself. Hokit has shown some exciting skills in the Octagon en route to a 4-0 UFC record and his first UFC title shot, but he’s been a trash-talking machine every step of the way. Cortes-Acosta hopes to one day make it to Hokit and play the role of spoiler, which involves knocking out all the former NFL player’s teeth.
“I’m not a fan of him,” said Cortes-Acosta of Hokit. “I’m that person, I want to meet him one day or be in the ring and take it out – whole teeth, whole mouth, all the damn dirty mouth he’s got.”
