Austin Bashi returned to the featherweight bracket earlier tonight (Saturday, November 7, 2026) at UFC Vegas 124 LIVE on Paramount+ from Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, stopping Octagon newcomer Carlos Calderon with a dominant first round submission (rear naked choke).
Bashi, who lost his last UFC appearance to Jose Delgado, was a heavy betting favorite heading into Saturday’s contest. That’s because Bash is considered a top prospect at 145 pounds and the fact that Calderon stepped up on just a few days’ notice. It was a tough call for Calderon and a great opportunity for Bash to stand out from the UFC rookie.
Calderon, who came over from Fury FC, had no trouble scoring and creating a fight. Unfortunately for him, it didn’t take long for Bash to bring this fight to the ground. Once there, the 25-year-old was able to get on Calderon’s back and locked the rear naked choke. Calderon fought for a few moments before getting tapped out to end his UFC debut.
