Mike Malott vs. Joaquin Buckley was played tonight (Saturday, October 17, 2026) in a lightweight bout at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. UFC Edmonton. In an incredible finish, Malott landed a perfect high kick/knee knockout in the second round.
Malott struck first with a nice body kick. Buckley swung his hook big and then landed another jab. Buckley’s hook just missed. Malotti’s high shot was narrowly blocked and Buckley responded well with a counter. Buckley scored with an own kick. Buckley tried to explode at the end of the round, but nothing landed. All in all, the first five minutes had a competitive feel to it.
Malott landed the harder shots, but Buckley landed more.
Buckley pushed straight ahead to start the second strike and the duo moved together for the first time. Malott landed several hard knees to the midsection in close before they separated. Both men were a bit tired after the clinch work on the court, but then Malott landed a headbutt right on the chin line!
Buckley hit the canvas face first and one follow up was the nail in the coffin.
Malott came into this match known for his thorough game, but he just knocked out the knockout badly! He was very calm in the face of Buckley’s immense power, standing his ground to find counter punches and uppercuts. Second, he seemed to have a strong understanding of his opponent’s timing, leading to a nasty final shot.
