UFC 332 preview, predictions: Worst main event in history?

UFC 332 takes place at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City on Saturday. night (October 3, 2026) when the original map stream is on Paramount+followed by CBS Network’s main card – Home this 2008 record breaker. There is a subset of combat sports fans who are still baffled as to why an undefeated fight card with little star power was able to find its way onto over-the-air television, so let’s start there.

First priority bought the UFC for more than $7 billion to drive Paramount+ subscriptions and you do it with shots like the UFC White House. No one is signing up for the new subscription service to watch Natalia Silva and Wang Cong compete for the free flyweight title. Remember that old saying: you get what you pay for? You don’t pay anything extra for the UFC 332 main card, so you don’t get anything extra.

But will UFC 332 have the worst main event in history?

“This is hands down — and I’m not exaggerating — the worst main event in MMA history,” former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub said on his show. Big brown distribution. “Wang Cong should never be headlining the card or fighting for the title. I just want to know who was like, ‘I’ve got this!’ Natalia Silva vs. Wang Cong!” Did everyone in the room say, “That’s sick!” Because if they did, they’d all be out of a job. It’s so frustrating that it’s the main event and the UFC is like, “You a’n’t gonna do st.” It should have some kind of resonance. If I was Utah, I wouldn’t have paid for it.

How many main events did Schaub participate in?

Only one – and he got kicked the f—k out of a ground hair with a 52 inch waist.

If you want to talk about brutal main events, let’s start there Cynthia Calvillo Vs. Jessica Eye at the top of UFC Vegas 2 In June 2020, Marvin Vettori and Karl Roberson co-star. Want to focus on numbered events? Newer fans won’t remember the outrage over UFC 177 being added TJ Dillashaw vs. Joe Sotoor UFC 149 with Urijah Faber fights Renan Barao in the main event.

The UFC made us pay $50 for this crap.

Dana White admitted that he was “embarrassing” by the UFC 149 fight card because itsucked“and represented”the lowest the lowest.” The fans were even singing “Payback! Payback!” all night. We don’t know yet if UFC 332 will be a dud because the fighters haven’t been given a chance to compete. Let us also acknowledge the fact that toxic UFC fans has a tendency crap on everything and everyone.

Remember when UFC 288 was too “scary” for pay-per-view (PPV).?

Silva vs. Wang wasn’t the campaign’s first choice, but that’s all that was left by the booking deadline. But the real question is, why does it even matter? When you changed super fun UFC Qatar lineup What’s the difference with the UFC 332 card? Everything will be aired Paramount+ or CBS, whether it’s a numbered event, an international Fight Night show, or a Meta Apex offer.

The only fans eligible to appeal are Salt Lake City ticket holders.

I’m sure it’s disappointing to wait two years for a new live UFC card, just then Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree Jr. Natalia Silva vs. Wang Cong. But hey, Johnny Utah and Leisurebrau A proper burger followed by Strawberry Shortcake at Brucie berries is a tasty consolation prize. Just watch those long bathroom lines on the main concourse level (near Portals D, G, T, and Y).

UFC 332 is mediocre. But can we stop acting like this is a crime against MMA fans?

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s pick out some of the main card winners.

125 pounds: Natalia Silva (20-5-1) vs. Cong Wang (10-1) for the vacant flyweight championship

Most UFC fans only know Cong Wang (+170) as a joker-painted rookie who frequents UFC prelims, but Wang has a win over Valentina Shevchenko from their kickboxing days on the international circuit. If Wang can repeat the performance of Rose Namajunas against Natalia Silva (-205), she has a real chance to overcome the Brazilian. Silva is the fastest fighter in the division, but doesn’t seem to know how to use that to his full advantage, which is why he’s been decisioned in his last five fights. I think he will overpower Wang in the first two rounds, then slow down and collapse for the second half of the fight. Expect the judges’ scorecards to show a close call, but I like Wang through the matador defense.

Selection: Wang def. Silva by decision

135 pounds: Deiveson Figueiredo (25-7-1) vs. Payton Talbott (11-1)

Deiveson Figueiredo (+525) turns 39 in a couple of weeks and has now dropped four of his last five. True, his competition has been the absolute best in the world, but it also put a clear ceiling on the Brazilian, who is too small for bantamweight and too fat for flyweight. I don’t think Payton Talbott (-750) is the 135-pound savior the promotion was hoping for, but we haven’t seen him fight anyone meaningfully either. Henry Cejudo was past his prime at UFC 323, and that’s a great comparison for this fight. Talbott gets to beat another former champion who used to be somebody but now just hangs on because nobody has the heart to tell him it’s time to go.

Selection: Talbott def. By submission of Figueiredo

185 pounds: Ateba Gautier (11-1) vs. Roman Kopylov (15-5)

Ateba Gautier (-250) looks formidable and has knocked out nine of his 11 victims. They call him “Mini Ngannou” for a reason (aside from their mutual ties to Cameroon), but a knockout is not a given, as we saw against Andrei Puljaev at UFC 324. Roman Kopylov (+205) is said to be the toughest test of Gautier’s career, and that’s tough and generous considering the Russian Gresta is with Paulgoo. Rodrigues. Are we breaking out the party hats to finish over Chris Curtis? It’s true that Kopylov has never been knocked out in his MMA career, but that means nothing against an opponent of Gautier’s power, and I think it’s only a matter of time before Kopylov gets cut.

Choice: Gautier def. Kopylov by knockout

155 pounds: King Green (36-17-1, 1 NC) vs. Esteban Ribovics (16-3)

King Green (+190) turned 40 last month, but it certainly doesn’t look like it, reeling off four straight wins and three nasty finishes. Losing performances against Paddy Pimblett and Mauricio Ruffy were reminders that he has no business in the top half of the division, but something tells me Green is more than content to hurt middleweights with no championship future. Does Esteban Ribovics (-230) fall into that category? “El Gringo” ended Dana White’s “Contender Series” in 2022 and has been consistently inconsistent. I don’t want to bet too much on his victory over Edson Barboza because the Brazilian’s time was long overdue and I think Green is too experienced – and has too much momentum – to lose this fight. That’s assuming he doesn’t do anything green, like recklessly step on the hook.

Option: green def. Ribovics by knockout

170 pounds: Kalinn Williams (16-5) vs. Roberto Soldic (21-4)

Kalinn Williams (+205) has been with the promotion for over six years and remains unranked at 170 pounds, which should tell you all you need to know about his current trajectory and why he was selected to fight Roberto Soldico (-205) at UFC 332. Williams is a striker and so is Soldic, so if the croatian is the same who k duckusnock is killed by Dr. P. In 2018 the division will become much more interesting. To his credit, Williams has never been knocked out, but he does have five knockouts of his own under the UFC banner. A win for Soldic doesn’t make “Robocop” an immediate title contender, but it certainly gives him a worthy addition to the 170-pound roster. I wouldn’t call it a confident pick in light of the confusion of the last few weeks, but I think Soldic will use patience and technical striking to get on the judges’ scorecards.

Selection: Soldic def. Williams by unanimous decision
