October 1: UEFA has tendered broadcast rights for its three men’s club competitions to nine more markets, including Australia and Turkey.
The packages cover the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League over four seasons, 2027/28 to 2030/31. Bidding was launched this week in Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, Greece, Israel, Cyprus, Malta, Iceland and the Caribbean, with a bid deadline of 3 November.
The process is being led by UC3, the commercial joint venture between UEFA and the European Football Clubs (EFC), and in collaboration with Relevent Football Partners, UEFA’s sales agency for club competitions until 2033 in media, sponsorship and licensing.
The rights holders for these regions are currently the Nine Network in Australia. DAZN in New Zealand. TRT in Turkey. Cosmote and Mega in Greece. The sports channel in Israel. Cyta in Cyprus. Melita in Malta. Viaplay and Syn in Iceland. Rush Sports in the Caribbean.
Turkey and Greece are the ones to watch. His clubs are regulars in the Champions League, and this season they are AEK Athens, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.
Earlier this month, Chinese streamer iQIYI Sports was renewed for the same cycle. Telecommunications company Advanced Info Services is UEFA’s preferred provider in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. There are also tenders in South Korea and Taiwan.
