Fantasy football season is here! Fantasy football season is here! Huzzah! Okay, now keep that excitement at that level while we look for a defense to register. And since you clicked, you should draft one unlike other leagues in favor of D/ST for another flex or IDP or any leagues you’re below.
First, don’t set up a defense too early. D/ST scoring is very relevant and easy to use before making your final selection. The thing is, you can’t just forget about D/ST and hope for the best. You have to work the waiver wire and keep your eye on the program and pay attention to QB injuries. You don’t want to start with the best offense in the league, even if you feel like the Texans or whoever will dominate. They host the Bills Week 1 and I have a middle linebacker against a guy like Deshaun Watson.
Pittsburgh will play either Tua Tagovailoa or Michael Penix at home to start the season. If it’s Tua, it’s equally juicy, but either way, I love TJ Watt and Co. at home.
Deshaun Watson is starting because the Browns invested so much in him that they want to get some sort of return on their investment. Unfortunately for Browns fans, that return will likely be the defense returning the interception for a touchdown.
The Lions begin their season at home against the Tyler Shaw Leader Saints. I like the offense of Shaw and Kellen Moore, but without Alvin Kamara and Jordin Tyson they will be on the road, playing an offense that can put up points quickly. It can come out of your hand, which is good for the D/ST score.
It’s hard to get a bead on the Colts’ offense this year, but we know they’ll try to do exactly what they did last year to start the season. The question is, will Daniel Jones be up to the task soon after the injury? It’s hard for me to tell, but I like the Ravens new look defense in Jesse Minter. This isn’t a close game, but I’ll bet on the Ravens being a much better defense this year.
We have two below average teams here and that could mean a turnaround. I’d take the home team, but if the takedown wire is thin, you can swing through both.
I like the Chiefs’ offensive skill players, but word from camp is that their offensive line is fine without Laremy Tunsil. Hopefully they figure this out soon, but the Eagles at home with a weak offensive line is what I’m seeing.
