Nolan (12-1) and Moicano (21-8-1) headlined an
Ultimate Fighting Championship Fight Night in Las Vegas at the Meta Apex on October 31st. Moicano controlled Nolan on the ground for most of the first two rounds. However, referee Dan Miragliotta unquestionably stood the fighters up in the second frame, even though Moicano had Nolan’s back. Nolan then finished Moicano in the third round. Fighters and fans alike have embraced Miragliotta’s call ever since.
What Tom Nolan had to say about a potential rematch with Renato Moicano
Nolan is willing to give Moicano a rematch to settle the controversy
UFC Vegas 123 title.
However, the Australian believes his Brazilian counterpart would not have been able to control him on the ground for the rest of the fight, even if the referee had not intervened in the second round. Nolan is confident that he will finish Moicano early in the rematch.
“It’s very unfortunate what happened,” Nolan told Ariel Helwani. “But we still had three, four and five rounds. He couldn’t do it in three more rounds. If he wanted to, I’d give him that chance. Honestly, I think it would probably go very similar, but a lot sooner. Now that I’ve known him, I think it’s going to be over pretty quickly. I don’t want to disrespect him or not call him out.”
