The 2026 PGA Tour’s winningest putters show mallets are the new king

If you had to describe the PGA Tour list winning putters with two words, the first would easily be “mallet”.

In 37 events with 38 winners, only five events from three different pros were won all season by a blade putter. Matt Fitzpatrick has won three times with his Bettinardi blade, while Tom Kim and Ryan Fox have swept it in both PGA Tour golf events, the Scottish Open and The Open Championship.

Other than that, every other event this season has been won players using mallet putters.

The next word would be “Spider”.

Nine of those players, combining for 13 wins, have used it TaylorMade Spider family putters and 11 of them used the flagship Spider Tour X. The 11 wins for the Spider Tour X shape were more than any other putter brand this season.

The Spider started strong, winning five of the first six events on Tour this season and kept it going with two majors and Scottie Scheffler’s FedEx Cup win.

But the Spider was hardly the only putter platform to consider 2026 a success.

Scotty Cameron earned nine wins as a brand, with three coming from Young’s Phantom 9.5R, which gained traction over the summer after Young’s hot spring. Ping also saw a lot of momentum from its Scottsdale TEC line of putters, fueled by Wyndham Clark’s quick turnaround on the greens.

Putters are perhaps the most unique personal equipment, but the pros take note of what works. Now, mallets seem to work en masse.

No. 1 TaylorMade Spider Tour X (11 wins, 7 players)

TaylorMade’s Spider Tour series of mallet putters has once again been the winningest putter family on the PGA Tour in 2026 with 13 victories through the end of the FedEx Cup season. All but two came from the leader form Spider Tour X (Jacob Bridgeman won with Spider Tour and Aaron Rai with Spider Tour V).

Almost everyone knows about the moves of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy at the Spider Tour X, but this year we saw Collin Morikawa finally find a putter to attack in a custom Spider Tour X flow neck, while Michael Thorbjornsen also moved from the larger Spider Tour to X just before his victory.

The Spider Tour X also recorded five non-staff victories, including Chris Gotterup, who like Scheffler, earned three victories for the putter. JT Poston he also won with a Spider Tour X L-Neck from the new line 2026 and Brandt Sendeker ended a 23-year run with his previous gamer before winning with the Spider Tour X in Myrtle Beach.

T2. Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5R (3 wins, 2 players)

While the Spider got a lot of the early momentum, it was Cameron Young’s Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5R that gradually gained a ton of conversions as the year went on. Young switched to the model last season and then earned his first win at the 2025 Wyndham Championship. Two more wins later, and the pros began to take notice of Young’s success with the rounded, slanted neck mallet.

Justin Thomas also requested an essential copy of Young’s putter and used it for most of the season. Each week, more and more players switched to a Phantom 9.5R and Jackson Koivun earned his first PGA Tour victory with the lead in July.

The momentum of the Tour also led Cameron to bring the head shape to retail last month.

Scotty Cameron 2026 Phantom 9.5R Putter

The Phantom 9R head shape is the next evolution of the Phantom 9 profile that debuted in 2024. The 9R (“R” denotes rounded) features softer, more rounded contours and edges compared to its predecessor. The new 9.5R configuration features a “.5” jet collar, which promotes more toe flow than the 9R or 9.2R models, and a single long sight line for precise alignment on the ball.

T2. Ping Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset CB (3 wins, 1 player)

Maybe no putter change meant more to a player Wyndham Clark moves in the Ping Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset CB putter.

Not only did Clark change his position, and the season, (tying Scheffler, Gotterup and Matt Fitzpatrick for the most wins on the year), but it also led to becoming a Ping ambassador in a putter only agreement with the company. The deal was the first of its kind for Ping.

T2. Bettinardi BB1 DASS Fitz Flow (3 wins, 1 player)

Sometimes it’s a temporary putter switch that makes the gamer behave a little better.

Matt Fitzpatrick had started using a Bettinardi BB48 prototype with his signature C-Groove face at the end of last year, but returned to his long BB1 DASS Fitz Flow and went on a tear in March and April, winning three times.

The Phantom 5 is what Scotty Cameron describes as his “Flagship” deck design, so it’s no surprise that the form is still winning.

Justin Rose had his first victory with the Phantom 5 at Torrey Pines, while Russell Henley used his old Phantom X5 gamer to win in Fort Worth.

T5. Scotty Cameron GoLo 7 (2 wins, 2 players)

The GoLo with the center of the center was another professional that had noticed in 2026. Often forgotten about the design at retail, but still very popular in the PGA Tour, Rickie Fowler began to use a putter GoLo 7 in the center of this year and returned to his previous form on the greens, recording his best shots gained since 2019.

Close friend Gary Woodland added one to the bag and won for the first time since 2019. Bud Cauley had his first victory with the putter in June. Several other players tried the putter as well throughout the year and Michael Brennan won in Greensboro with a smaller GoLo 6 with a single shaft.
