September 25: WSL Football has reached a new multi-year deal with Tesco, naming the supermarket the official supermarket partner of the Barclays Women’s Super League and WSL 2.
The deal is a shared push to make healthy eating more accessible to children through Tesco’s Free Fruit & Veg for Schools programme, and links directly to support. Every fan who walks through the gates of a WSL or WSL 2 match this season contributes to a donation from WSL Football to this programme. The bigger the crowd, the bigger the impact.
Tesco has set itself the goal of helping one million children access free fruit and vegetables through its school and community programmes. The retailer will also bring its nutritional expertise to support WSL Football’s health agenda.
Tesco chief customer officer Suzanne Quinn said: “We are committed to supporting the health of communities across the country and we know that staying active and making healthier choices are central to this mission,” calling it “a brilliant opportunity to raise awareness of this work through the growing popularity of women’s football”.
WSL Football Chief Revenue Officer Zarah Al-Kudcy said: “The partnerships we have built are helping to transform women’s football and we hope this partnership can also help transform society.”
