Tennis, WTA – US Open 2026: Noskova downs Kostyuk

No. 6, the 21-year-old Czech is the current champion of Wimbledon. Number 11 was Kostyuk from Ukraine. It was the second Grand Slam run in which Noskova ended her tournament, following a 6-4, 6-4 Wimbledon semifinal.

Since April, all of Kostyuk’s losses have come against a player who has gone on to win the title: Mirra Andreeva in the semifinals at Roland Garros, Noskova in Wimbledon, Iga Sviatek in the fourth round in Toronto and Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals in Cincinnati.

Marta is a huge competitor, so I knew it was going to be tough from the start

“Today was very close, it could have ended in two ways,” Noskova said after the match. “Marta is a huge competitor, so I knew it was going to be tough from the start. Especially with all the opportunities I had in the second set. It was still very difficult to resume in the third set.”

He wins the 3rd match in a row in that way. In the Wimbledon final, she led Karolina Muchova 6–2, 5–2 and held five match points before losing the second set 7–5 to win 6–2, 5–7, 6–3. Here in the third round, she led No. 29 Anne Lee of the USA 6-2, 5-3, had a match point, lost the second set in a tiebreak and won 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-2.

The win was her 11th consecutive Grand Slam victory, starting with the Wimbledon title, and her eighth of the season against a top-20 opponent. She is the youngest Czech woman to reach the quarterfinals of the US Open since Daya Bedanova in 2001.
