Etchvery ends his losing run in the final set tiebreak
Etcheverry himself came to Paris on a six-game losing streak after arriving US Open fourth round.
He took the opening set 6-4 on Court 2. Rublyov leveled the score by winning the second set 7-4. The Argentine then took the deciding tiebreak 7-3.
It was the second time in their three meetings that Etcheverry beat Rublyov in a final-set tiebreak, following a 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6) victory in the round of 16 in Halle last year. Rublev won his first match in Montreal in 2024 7-6 (3), 6-2.
Etcheverry won his only ATP title in Rio de Janeiro in February, defeating Alejandro Tabillo 3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4 in the final. De Minaur, 10th Race to Turinbegins his campaign on Wednesday.
Rublev, who won the Bastard title this season, reached the semi-finals in Paris in 2023.
