Super Rugby Pacific has announced its full fixture list for 2027, with a new format competition featuring ten teams competing in an expanded 17 rounds.
The 80-game regular season will include multiple Sunday afternoon contests, while one blockbuster game will be played on Saturday, April 24, the day before the Wallabies host All black people in a historic Anzac Day Bledisloe Cup clash.
Scheduling more Super Rugby Pacific Sunday games have long been a topic of conversation among fans and pundits for several years now, with the family-friendly slot offering a better opportunity for fans.
The competition will begin on Friday, February 12, with Crusaders hosting Queensland Red in one New Zealand Christchurch Stadium.
The second leg of the 2027 competition is played on Friday night at Canberra’s GIO Stadium, in between Brumbies and the Waratahs.
Brad Moore’s Fijian Drua will take over Highlanders in Fiji on Saturday, February 13, before defending Super Rugby Pacific champions the Hurricanes take on Jason Holland coach Blues in Auckland.
The final competition of the first round is in Perth, where there is a western Force welcome Jono Gibbes’ Bosses to the city.
Each team announced the fixtures of their choice on Monday, headlined by a pre-Anzac Day clash in between Queensland Reds and the Blues in Brisbane.
Michael Cheika’s NSW Waratahs will host the Crusaders in an exciting Sunday afternoon contest at the Allianz Stadium in round nine. The ACT Brumbies will also take part in the Corroboree Group Oval Manuka competition for the first time in 30 years.
Stephen Larkham’s side will host Western Force in round two, before meeting the Queensland Reds in Manuka during round nine.
Fiji’s Drua, who rarely have a Friday night opener at home, will host Clark Laidlaw’s match Hurricanes in Suva during the twelfth round.
Super Rugby Pacific chief executive Jack Mesley said the competition continues to grow and they are excited about the changes to the draw, including more Sunday afternoon games.
“We’re thrilled to deliver a 2027 draw that gives fans more to look forward to than ever before – Sunday’s unlucky weekend, an epic Easter weekend, a Super Round in Christchurch and a history-making Anzac weekend in Brisbane,” Mesley explained.
“Every team starts the season with a clear ambition to win the title. But the stakes will be even higher next year, with the opening half of the season shaping up to be a Test jersey shootout ahead of the inaugural Anzac Bledisloe and Rugby World Cup coming sharply into view behind him.
“Throw in all the traditional and new rivalries and a new finals series where every game is sudden death, and there will be more at stake in every Super Rugby Pacific game, from the opening whistle to the grand final.
“Over the past three seasons our competition has seen growth across all key metrics and we are confident we have secured a fan-focused draw for 2027 that will continue to build on that positive momentum.”
Super Rugby Pacific has also announced that there has been a change to the finals format for 2027.
“The top six teams at the end of the 2027 regular season will compete in a revamped three-week finals series, with the top two advancing directly to the semifinals and the third-place teams hosting a sudden-death elimination final.
