Anacadia Minnaar has returned to the Springbok Women squad for October following her late withdrawal from the European tour in September.
The scrum-half comes into the team for Felicia Jacobs, who replaced her in the squad South Africa squad for WXV Global Series a month ago. In Europe, the Springbok Women lost to Wales 50-19, shot Italy 41-29 for a 20-nil victory Spain in Seville.
Ayanda Malinga’s injury means Insaaf Levy has been included in the squad that will assemble in Stellenbosch this week ahead of the two-Test series with Ireland at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
The line-up chosen by coaches Laurian Johannes-Haupt and Franzel September is mostly settled, but without the injured Libbie Janse van Rensburg.
Babalwa Latsha, the captain of the team, was named in the squad despite sitting out her team’s win against Spain due to injury.
Johannes-Haupt said: “We opted for continuity as we have good momentum from the last few matches on the tour, hence the call to stay with the same group of players.
“Anacadia unfortunately wouldn’t be able to travel to Europe, but we’re happy to have her back, and we want to bring Insaaf closer to the action and use her skill set. Ireland aren’t the fifth-ranked team in the world for nothing – they’re really going to test us.”
“We are pleased with how the season has progressed and want to finish it strong at home. The Athlone Stadium has been a happy hunting ground for us in recent years and it is the perfect place to end the season.”
Free State Women center Aisha Camara and DHL Western Province prop Anothanda Katshwa, have been invited to train with the squad for the remainder of the 2026 WXV Global Series.
