October 5 – Sony Sports Network will return to air the Indian Super League (ISL), ending months of uncertainty over where the top flight of Indian football would be shown.
Sony has television rights across the Indian subcontinent, with streaming in India on SonyLIV. The deal is reported to cover 2026-27 and 2027-28. Money has not been disclosed, nor have channel, language or production details.
Last season was interrupted after the commercial structure of the ISL collapsed, with FanCode streaming worldwide and Sony on TV.
The clubs now control the league’s commercial rights. The Football Federation of India still manages the administration and regulation.
So this is effectively the clubs’ first major deal, and they’ve got a multi-year deal.
YouTube is expected to stream matches internationally, although terms have not been made public. And JSW MG Motor India is the new title sponsor, with the league to be called the MG Indian Super League this season.
On October 10, the season returns to a full away and away format. Bengaluru FC host newly promoted Sporting Club Delhi in the first match and FC Goa will play Chennaiyin FC later in the day. The first phase is 78 games through January 17, 2027, with the rest of the schedule and playoffs to follow.
