Munster Legend Simon Zebo believes Munster will travel to Belfast full of confidence next weekend after defying injury problems to turn the tables Bulls 26-22 at Thomond Park on Saturday night.

Fly-half Charlie O’Shea scored a try in each half in a Player of the Match display on his first competitive start for the province, with tries from Diarmuid Kilgallen and Alex Kendellen adding their brace in the URC clash.

Munster had the majority of possession and territory and Zebo was particularly pleased as the young side wrapped up victory, their first of the season following a 26-20 home defeat to Glasgow in the first round.

Speaking after the match on Premier Sports, Zebo believes a bonus point win will help Munster in next Saturday’s match against Ulster in Belfast, followed by a Champions Cup tie at home to Racing 92.

“That’s exactly what you want going into an inter-pro game, you want confidence, especially when it comes to an away inter-pro game, against Ulster, who we’ve had some really tough battles with over the past few years,” Zebo said.

“I think Munster will relish their chances, although going there will be tough. But they can have a lot of confidence.

Summary of the match

“There was a lot of quality in that Bulls team, and to get them out with such a young group and make them play such a mature game in the second half in terms of the position they played in and how they played and approached that second half.

“It was a really good thing, far better than last week.”

The only blemish on the evening was a leg injury sustained by prop Michael Milne in the eighth minute.
