September is full of valuable watches. The NFL and college football officially begin. Men’s and women’s soccer leagues are growing. MLB and WNBA are reaching their playoffs. There’s the US Open tennis and Presidents Cup golf; the chill of the NHL puck drop and the heat of the Spanish Grand Prix. “Chad Powers” is back under center, lest we forget.

This latest installment of the “Untold” documentary series focuses on Rachael Gunn, an Australian breakdancer who competed in her newly recognized Olympic sport. Memes and misnomers followed.
Women’s Volleyball Big Ten/SEC Challenge

All 18 Big Ten and 16 SEC programs are in this inaugural interconference showdown. The finale is a Fox doubleheader at Wrigley Fieldwith Kentucky vs. Penn State and Nebraska vs. Missouri.

Glen Powell is the titular quarterback of the South Georgia Catfish. Eli Manning, producer and founder of the original beathe had a cameo in the first season. All six episodes drop simultaneously.
Premiere of ‘On Campus: Game of the Week’
September 4th on Netflix
It’s Netflix’s twist on the “College GameDay” concept, with two college students running a camera around campus and tailgate shenanigans each week. Thankfully, there’s no Pat McAfee in this one.
Opening of the Women’s Super League
September 4, 14:00 on Paramount+
The season kicks off with London City Lionesses hosting Manchester United. The league expanded to 14 clubs following the promotion of Birmingham City, Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace. Three-time WSL Golden Boot winner Khadija Shaw suits up for defending champions Manchester City, who host Birmingham on September 6.
FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026
4-13. September on TNT, truTV and HBO Max
The 20th FIBA Women’s World Championship is being celebrated in Berlin. Team USA is loaded with stars like Paige Bueckers, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. USA goes for fifth straight championship; the group game with China, the Czech Republic and Italy begins.
Wisconsin vs. Notre Dame (Shamrock Series)
September 6, 7:30pm on NBC
Heisman Trophy hype machine CJ Carr takes the #4 Fighting Irish to historic Lambeau Field. The Badgers are running back fleet quarterback Colton Joseph, who transferred from Old Dominion. Wisconsin fans have an in-state advantage here, but Notre Dame always travels well.

This MLS and Liga MX crossover comes down to four Mexican clubs. The winners of Toluca vs. Leon and America vs. Monterrey play for the title. Each of the top three players qualify for the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup, with the winner going directly to the round of 16.
Men’s Champions League: League Stage 1 Match
September 8-10 on Paramount+
As always, the UCL field is loaded to capacity. French titan Paris Saint-Germain are competing for a three-peat with Ousmane Dembélé. Declan Rice and EPL champions Arsenal are heading to redemption tour. Bundesliga club Bayern Munich has Harry Kaneand La Liga Barcelona has Lamine Yamal. A great football glove never disappoints.
New England Patriots at Seattle Seahawks

The NFL kicks off its new season with a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl. Drake Maye and the Pats visit Sam Darnold and the 12s on “Sunday Night Football,” which is Wednesday this time. Of course. New England arrives after the AJ Brown trade and The saga of Mike Vrabel; Seattle raises a second banner as owned by the team changes over.
Women’s Pro Baseball League Playoffs
Sept. 9-10 p.m. on the ESPN App
All four WPBL teams – the Boston Hunters, Los Angeles Queens, New York Heights and San Francisco Firebells – are making their first postseason appearance. It’s a best-of-three semifinal and a best-of-five championship series. Among the notable names are No. 1 picks Kelsie Whitmore and former Little League standout Mo’ne Davis.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams
September 10, 8:35pm on Netflix
The division rivals and Super Bowl contenders begin their 2026 campaigns at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This Netflix exclusive marks the NFL’s regular season debut in Australia. New Rams pass rusher Myles Garrett pairs with unretired Aaron Donaldwhile Niners guard Christian McCaffrey adds star power on the other end. Head coaches Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan are two from the league Top play callers.
Solheim Cup
11-13. September on the Golf Channel
Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands hosts this women’s tournament between the USA and Europe. Angela Stanford captains the American team, while Swedish mainstay Anna Nordqvist leads the Europeans. The first two days are foursomes and four-ball matches; the third day switches to singles.
US Open Singles Final
Sept. 12-13 on ABC and ESPN
Tennis takes Queens, NY to the final Grand Slam of the season. Defending men’s champion Carlos Alcaraz is coming back from a wrist injury and is now looking for his fourth major championship in two years. On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka is trying to win the tournament for the third time in a row. The women’s final on September 12 starts at 4 pm on ESPN, while the men’s final is the next day at 2 pm on ABC.

We have a top five powerhouse headliner, with “College GameDay” on campus in Austin. Quarterbacks Julian Sayin and Arch Manning are Heisman hopefuls. Wideouts Jeremiah Smith and Cam Coleman look like NFL draft gems. This has match of the year potential.

The long line of boxing spectacles in Las Vegas continues with Garcia, who holds the WBC light heavyweight title, and Benn, his mandatory challenger. Benn’s father, Nigel, won the super middleweight belt in 1992.

Madring’s first F1 race features the longest corner on the circuit. McLaren teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris finished first and second in last year’s race held in Barcelona.

A new kind of whistle may be invented at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Lane Kiffin led Ole Miss to its most promising year in several lifetimes, then left to coach fellow SEC member LSU no love lost. Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebels are certainly looking to prove themselves against Kiffin’s revamped Tigers. It’s another “College GameDay” special.
NASCAR Cup Series in Bristol

The chase is on. Denny Hamlin enters 10-race playoff atop the points standings, with the No. 1 seed increasing his chances for his first career NASCAR Cup Series title. Others in the field of 16 are No. 2 Ryan Blaney, No. 3 Tyler Reddick and no. 4 Ty Gibbs. The playoffs run through November 8, but few tracks can match Bristol Motor Speedway.
Kevin Hart’s ‘Cold as Balls’ Season 13 Premiere

Novak Djokovic, Cooper Flagg, Rob Gronkowski, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Serena Williams appear in the new episodes of the ice bath interview. Yes, Hart is shorter than all of his guests.

Barcelona have been a force, winning three of the last four UEFA titles. It still has midfielder Aitana Bonmatí, a three-time Ballon d’Or winner. But pressure is mounting from OL Lyonnes, who add striker Salma Paralluelo from Barca and 2025 champions Arsenal.
‘Go Deep: The DeSean Jackson Story’

At his peak, Jackson was one of the most magnetic talents in the NFL, a vertical play breaker with plenty of swagger. This documentary uses footage of his brother, Byron, to follow the receiver’s journey from Pop Warner to the pros.
Presidents Cup
Sept. 24-27 on Golf Channel, NBC and Peacock
Led by former world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and team captain Brandt Snedeker, the USA is looking to return to the top of intercontinental golf and avenge its loss in the 2025 Ryder Cup. The Americans have won 10 consecutive Presidents Cups since the 2003 tie. The international team (without Europe) is played by South Korean Si Woo Kim, and the captain is Australian Geoff Ogilvy. All four days are at Chicago’s Medinah Country Club.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Dallas Cowboys
September 27, 4:25 p.m. on CBS
The NFL’s international schedule is bigger than ever this year, with nine games spread across seven different countries. This one brings the Ravens and Cowboys to Rio de Janeiro. The points should come in bulk between Baltimore’s ground game (Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry) and Dallas’ aerial offense (Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb).
The WNBA playoffs begin
September 27 on Disney Networks (ABC, ESPN), Prime Video and USA
The bracket is buzzing with excitement and hope. A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces are the reigning champions. Olivia Miles leads the Minnesota Lynx in their quest for the franchise’s fifth title. There are also 3-iD Golden State Valkyries, New York Liberty star, Indiana Fever Caitlin Clark and Dallas Wings Paige Bookers. The playoffs last until October.
All American Series Finale
September 28, 8:00 PM on The CW
From South Central to Beverly Hills, “All American” dramatizes the culture clashes of high school football in Los Angeles. The show, based on the life of former NFL quarterback and Super Bowl champion Spencer Paysinger, is wrapping up its eight-season arc.
NHL premiere night
Sept. 29 on ESPN
Hockey is back, and has grown to an 84-game regular season schedule. ESPN kicks things off with a national TV trio. First, the Carolina Hurricanes raise their championship banner before hosting the Florida Panthers. Later, the New York Rangers take to the ice against the rival Boston Bruins, followed by the Chicago Blackhawks at the Vegas Golden Knights.
MLB wild-card series
Sept. 29-Oct. 1 on NBC and Peacock
Playoff baseball brings a distinct, diluted tension. The air thins and the game slows down. While there is still a lot to settle in the standings, the 2026 wild cards could go to tentpoles like the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies. All four best-of-three series are on NBC Sports.
From there we head into October – where the World Series is and the almighty sports equinoxes wait for us.
