After the Broncos’ overtime win over the Seahawks on Thursday night, Ryan Fitzpatrick of Prime Video slammed quarterback Bo Nix, calling his performance “rubbish.
Broncos coach Sean Payton doesn’t see it that way.
On Monday, Payton was asked by reporters if he has considered making a quarterback change.
“To answer your question, no,” Payton said. “It’s going to be a byproduct of all the best things that get better. The improved play from our offensive line, the more efficient we are in terms of balance, running the football. That’s our job as coaches here. We talked after the game that we’re excited to get that win, and yet at the same time find that improvement that we need in all areas. So it starts with all of us.”
Payton was also asked if he listens to any of the media’s comments about Nix, including Fitzpatrick’s remarks.
“I try to focus on the next day here,” Payton said. “We’re trying to focus on getting ready to play Arizona. That’s where our focus is.”
Payton could have taken the bait to talk about Fitzpatrick. Payton chose not to. Had he entered, Payton’s response might have been just as entertaining Aqib Talib’s dismissal of Fitzpatrick.
Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick will have another chance to evaluate and criticize Nix. The Broncos will face the Steelers on Black Friday and the game will be broadcast by Prime Video.
