Sami Zayn recalled the WWE Royal Rumble 2023 segment where he addressed Roman Reigns and The Bloodline, noting that the crowd reaction was unlike anything he’s ever heard.
Zayn was an integral part of The Bloodline storyline, which came to a head when he betrayed Reigns and hit him with a chair after Reigns’ match against Kevin Owens. The crowd at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas received a standing ovation, which Zayn discussed “Insight“.
“I haven’t heard a reaction like that because what’s so funny about that reaction is if you listen again, because I’ve actually seen it recently, that’s the sound that (it) reaches.” It’s like a different noise that I’ve never actually heard. Finally, the match with Mick Foley, it’s one of my favorites,” Zayn said. “In terms of tone and tone, when I hit Roman with that chair, it’s a sound I’ve never really heard before. It’s like they all say yes at the same time. Looks like pop doesn’t start with an “H”. It starts with a ‘Y’.”
Zayn said he knew the moment was special from the crowd’s reaction, even though he was completely focused on performing the segment. However, he feels the crowd response seemed louder when he watched it again than it did in the arena. The WWE Champion also reflected on the segment as a whole, calling it one of the best he’s ever been involved with.
“It’s one of the best things I’ve ever been a part of, without a doubt. It’s not just Bloodline,” he added. “What I liked was that it was really such a collaborative effort. There were so many people who contributed, like, one idea, one idea, one idea, one idea. And each of those ideas made this perfect pie.”
He further added that the particular segment was shot perfectly Bloodline history.
