Sale Sharks back-rower Jacques Vermeulen received a four-match ban after receiving a 20-minute red card during Sunday’s hard-fought 21-17 win Saracens at StoneX Stadium.
The 31-year-old made contact with the head of Saracens scrum-half Tomos Williams in the 18th minute as he tried to clear the problem, and following TMO intervention, he was sent off to leave the Sharks with 13 men, after Alex Lozowski had earlier been sin-binned for Alfie Barbeary’s high tackle.
His hearing today was heard by an independent panel chaired by Daniel Gore, who sat with Mick McArdle and former Harlequins lock Olly Kohn.
Vermeulen accepted the plea and received a four-match suspension, without reduction, due to the fact that he was charged with a dangerous tackle in the 2024/25 season and was already in ‘catching school’.
He will now miss this weekend’s game at home to Harlequins, next week away to Glasgow in the Champions Cup and travel to Newcastle and Bath in Gallagher PREM.
Missed matches:
11.10.2026 v Harlequins
17.10.2026 v Glasgow Warriors (EPCR)
23.10.2020 against Newcastle Red Bulls
31.10.2026 in Bath Rugby
