Ruoning Yin is on a roll. The 23-year-old won the Buick LPGA Shanghai on Sunday, successfully defending her title and earning her second consecutive LPGA Tour win after winning the FM Championship in her previous start.
Playing in front of a home crowd, Yin bounced back from a second round of two over par by playing his final 36 holes nine under. She closed with five birdies and a bogey on Sunday, making two birdies in her final three holes to secure her seventh LPGA Tour victory.
Yin’s dancing proved to be a difference factor throughout the week. She led the field in greens in regulation, hitting 55 of 72, and went a perfect 14-for-14 in fairways in Sunday’s final round.
“This course you have to play really, really patiently, and there aren’t many birdie chances,” Yin said after the win.
The victory makes Yin only the second player to win the Buick LPGA Shanghai twice, joining Danielle Kang, who claimed back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019. Yin also remains the only player from the People’s Republic of China to win the event.
It’s another milestone in what has been an outstanding 2026 season. Yin made 16 cuts in 18 starts, recording two wins and six additional top-10 finishes. He surpassed $3 million in official earnings for the season and moved to No. 5 in the Race to the CME Globe.
With three tournaments remaining, Yin hopes his latest victory will provide a boost in the final stretch of the season.
“This year is definitely better than last year, of course, but I think I still have three more tournaments left,” said Yin, “Hopefully this can boost some confidence for me and then go into the next one.”
