Moicano wants “money”. Dan Miragliotta go himself – he just doesn’t care enough to do the paperwork.
At No. 8 Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight contender Renato Moicano suffered a third-round TKO loss Tom Nolan at the main event of the year UFC Halloween last night (Sat 31 Oct 2026) inside Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada (watch the highlights).
After initially refusal to accuse Miragliotta or “start a war” Moicano insisted over the controversial opposition that he would not formally appeal his loss to Nolan or seek punishment from the veteran judge.
The brawl began in the second round when Miragliotta inexplicably lifted the fighters to their feet while Moicano had Nolan’s back locked in a body triangle and landed short punches.
Nolan immediately capitalized, hurting Moicano with a knee and almost finishing him before the bell. The Australian continued to apply pressure in the third round, eventually reversing the takedown and unloading until Miragliotta finished the fight.
During the follow-up interview MMA fight today, Moicano admitted that the speech frustrated him and disturbed his concentration.
“I was a little disappointed, too, that the referee stood the fight,” Moicano said. “I was a little disappointed, and disappointment is bad. But that’s it, it’s over. What can I do? There’s nothing I can do about it.”
Moicano said he was never warned by Miragliotta that the action might resume.
“It surprised me,” Moicano said. “When he said, ‘Get up,’ I don’t remember him giving a warning. And even if he did, I saw a lot of people say it’s in the rules, that it’s a new rule. I’ve never heard of that. I’ve never heard of anybody getting up off a hill or off anybody’s back. It was the first time I’d ever seen it.
“I thought about complaining, but then I told myself, listen, focus on the fight,” Moicano continued. “But I clearly lost focus.”
Uniform rules allow the judges to restart action if neither fighter makes a meaningful or sustained effort to move toward the finish. But Moicano fought hand to hand, landed short punches and attacked from one of the most dominant positions in mixed martial arts (MMA), leading the UFC broadcast team and numerous fighters to condemn Miragliotta’s decision.
Despite the controversial call, Moicano will not file a formal appeal with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). He also doesn’t plan to demand that Miragliotta be punished or barred from organizing future fights.
“I want him to go and deal with himself, him and everybody else,” Moicano said. “I don’t care.”
Still, Moicano refused to use Miragliotta as an excuse for defeat. He admitted he should have finished Nolan when he had the chance and credited the Australian for successfully defending his submission attempts.
Moicano has now lost three of its last four games, with a win in the main event opener Chris Duncan served as his only win during that stretch. The 37-year-old revealed before UFC Halloween that he plans to do just that terminate your current contract and test free agency.
After Saturday’s loss, the Brazilian finisher has two fights left on that deal.
