In case you were too busy trick-or-treating, Moicano headlined the UFC Halloween card in Las Vegas, Nevada last weekend. This was an interesting main event matchup with Nolan considering Moicano is a wrestler and Nolan is a striker. As expected, Moicano took advantage early on, applying her ground game to regain control and take an early lead.
Unfortunately for Moicano, his advantage was taken away in the 2nd round when the referee waved off the fight due to “Money” being on Nolan’s back. Moicano didn’t land a heavy attack, but he was one move away from a possible submission. Going up from this position is quite rare in MMA and has been a hot topic of discussion in recent days, especially considering Moicano lost by knockout in the next round (see HERE).
While Moicano has every right to be angry, he has already made peace with the result. It’s a little surprising considering Moicano won the fight before the ill-advised surge, but “Money” isn’t sweating it. Perhaps because the longtime UFC lightweight contender wants to move on from MMA after his current UFC contract expires. Instead of MMA, Moicano wants to make his money in the boxing ring.
“To be completely honest with you, I want to finish my contract, and when I finish my contract, I don’t want to fight in MMA anymore,” Moicano said. interview with Ariel Helwani on Monday.
“I want to do boxing like influencer boxing. I want to beat people who don’t know how to fight.
“I don’t want to be like Tony Ferguson. Eight fights trying to be champion, 40 years old, on a six-fight losing streak. I don’t want that.
“I’m happy. Sometimes you have to realize when you’re done. You have to realize how much gas you have in the tank, how much love you have for the sport. For me, it’s three more fights.
“I think after those three I’m done because (UFC) doesn’t pay me enough.”
