The Red Roses will return to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light in April 2027 with Scotland who will be the opponents in England’s second match of the Women’s Six Nations.
The game will mark England’s first appearance at the 49,000-seat stadium outside of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, following their record 67-9 win over USA in front of 42,723 fans in 2025.
England’s return to the North East will take place on Saturday 17 April, with the RFU hoping to recreate the atmosphere that created their women’s Rugby World Cup Opening in 2025 such an unforgettable occasion.
The 49,000-capacity venue will host just its second rugby match on Saturday, April 17, when Scotland travel to face England.
Ellie Kildunne said: “It was an amazing atmosphere to be a part of – one of the favorites of my career. I just remember the noise when we got off the bus and the time the fans were left with afterwards.
“It was unbelievable. They really fired us up that night. If the Scotland game can repeat anything like that night, it’s sure to be another occasion to remember.”
