one of of Real Madrid the most decorated players, Dani Carvajal, has signed for Getafe.
The right-back left the Santiago Bernabéu in June when his contract expired, ending his 24-year association with the club.
His final years were interrupted by injuries, but he will have the chance to extend his career even further after agreeing a deal with Getafe that will see him play at the club until at least the end of the season.
Carvajal won 27 trophies with Real Madrid, including six Champions League crowns, and was a member of Spain’s Euro 2024 squad.
The former Real Madrid hero will be “experience and leadership” at Getafe
A statement from Getafe is read: “Getafe CF has reached an agreement with Dani Carvajal, tying him to the blue club until June 30, 2027.
“After having been 51 times with the Spanish national team and with a long career in elite football, Carvajal embarks on a new chapter in his sports career in the south of Madrid where he will bring experience and leadership.
“From Getafe CF we want to welcome Dani Carvajal and wish him much success in this new stage. Welcome to the Coliseum, Dani!”
Getafe is 14th in La Liga and will host Rayo Vallecano on Monday night.
Carvajal can expect an emotional return to Real Madrid on January 3.
