With Barcelos down and looking like he was going to have a seizure, I feared we were in for one of the worst nights in MMA (something I can’t escape is the question of when and if). The fight was stopped and Rosas Jr. was awarded the stoppage win on the night.
Had the fight been over, Rosas Jr. would likely have lost this one and Barcelos would have added another feather to his cap as he defeated another young rookie. Barcelos probably got the letter L for the Brazilian, his fans and those who bet on him. But I think everyone, including the degenerates, is happy that Barcelos is okay and didn’t seem to be permanently damaged by this freak incident.
This week, Barcelos, who stayed in Las Vegas, met Rosas Jr. on the street. The couple shared a nice moment and posed for a picture together. You can see it all below.
It’s not clear what Barcelos, who speaks Brazilian Portuguese, and Rosas Jr., who speaks Mexican Spanish, are saying to each other. But it all seems pleasant enough. Glad the pair were able to share a positive moment after an epic cage fight on the street that seemed headed for tragedy.
It has been reported that Barcelos lost consciousness due to swelling of his brain, possibly in response to extreme exhaustion. This was said by Glover Teixeira, who was present at this last meeting between Barcelos and Rosas Jr.
Barcelos’ run was a joy to watch as he flustered Payton Talbott and took it to Rosas Jr. Whether or not he returns to fighting, we hope the 39-year-old brawler has nothing but good things ahead of him.
